A collection of vintage hardcover books and printed ephemera. The group features two similar volumes bound in red-orange cloth with blue cloth spines. The first volume is decorated with a gold-stamped central motif comprising a crown and scepter, surrounded by a repeating pattern of heraldic symbols including crowns, Tudor roses, thistles, and shamrocks. This volume retains a blue paper wrap-around band at the lower edge with white text reading ON MORECAMBE BAY. The second similar volume features a large gold-stamped Tudor rose motif at the centre of the front board. Also included is a record sleeve titled THE BEST OF 20 YEARS featuring a photographic portrait, and a small printed item or box displaying the text BEATRIX POTTER trademark symbol followed by copyright Frederick Warne and Co. 2010. One volume bears a small orange adhesive price sticker at the lower edge, and another shows the handwritten numbers 25 25 on the bottom edge of the text block.
Condition report:
The collection shows significant signs of age and handling throughout. The cloth bindings exhibit bumped and frayed corners with visible loss of fabric (photo 1). There is surface staining and areas of discolouration to the red-orange cloth boards (photo 1). The blue paper band on the Morecambe Bay volume shows creasing and edge wear (photo 1). The paper items, including the record sleeve and Beatrix Potter packaging, show shelf wear and minor creasing at the extremities (photo 1).
