A pair of monochrome photographic prints, likely modern silver gelatin or digital reproductions of late 19th and early 20th-century historical images. The first print captures a scene of traditional recreation, showing three men in period attire including waistcoats and flat caps, positioned within a wooden boat among reeds. It features a handwritten inscription in the lower right corner reading “Bass netting – Windermere – 28th August 1880 Robert Walker & Tomlinson”. The second print depicts a large social gathering in front of a commercial building, with various figures and early motor vehicles or carriages visible. The building bears several painted signs including “SEVEN STARS HOTEL”, “BILLIARDS”, “WINES & SPIRITS”, “BURTON ALE ON DRAUGHT”, and the name “WILLIAM STIRZAKER”. Both prints are presented in matching dark wood-effect frames with a gilt-tone inner slip and dark grey mounts. Small orange adhesive labels are present on the upper frames.
Condition report:
Both prints and frames appear to be in good overall condition. The glazing is intact with no visible cracks or deep scratches (photo 1). The prints show clear detail with no evidence of foxing, staining, or silver mirroring, although there is a slight warm tonal shift consistent with the reproduction of historical originals. The frames and mounts are secure and show no significant chips or losses to the finish.
