Lot 266: A Collection of Lake District Interest Framed Photographic Prints

Live auction will start in __ days and __ hours

Start price: £2

Buyer's Premium:

A collection of modern photographic prints, likely digital pigment or silver gelatin reproductions, presented in matching dark-stained wooden frames with gilt inner slips. The prints are mounted behind glass with dark brown mats. One photograph depicts a dense crowd of figures on a frozen expanse, with a hand-written inscription in the lower right corner reading Skating on Windermere 1929. A second photograph shows a rustic stone building with an advertising board reading S. NELSON Celebrated GINGERBREAD MAKER. An inscription is visible in the lower right of this print, but the first part is partially obscured by the frame, with the latter portion reading Nelson. A third frame is visible in the stack featuring an inscription that reads Sarah Nelson. The frames are fitted with metal hanging loops and small metal eyelets on the vertical edges, suggesting they may have been part of a hinged display system.

Condition report:

The collection shows some signs of wear consistent with use. Several frames exhibit scuffing and small losses to the wood finish along the edges and corners (photo 1). The paper backing on the reverse of the frames shows some minor tearing and creasing. The photographic prints appear to be in good condition, well-preserved behind glass with no visible foxing or fading.
