Lot 18: A Trio of Glass Rose Bowls with Metal Frogs

Live auction will start in __ days and __ hours

Start price: £2

Buyer's Premium:

A trio of clear glass rose bowls of varying sizes and designs, each complete with a removable polished metal wire-mesh frog for floral arrangement. The largest vessel is a heavy lead crystal bowl featuring a deep-cut geometric pattern of cross-hatched diamonds around the central body, finished with vertical mitre cuts near the rim. The medium-sized bowl is of a waisted form, decorated with a wheel-engraved floral and leaf spray pattern circulating the body; it is fitted with a polished metal collar around the rim and a multi-pointed cut star to the base. The smallest item is a squat, globular posy vase in clear glass with a simple cut star to the base and an undecorated body. The items show high clarity and sharp wheel-cut facets consistent with lead crystal production. No maker’s marks, signatures, or acid-etched stamps are visible on any of the pieces. An orange adhesive price label and a white circular adhesive label are present on the body of the largest bowl.

Condition report:

The collection is in good condition overall. The glass across all three pieces appears clear and free from clouding, internal fracturing, or significant chipping to the cut edges (photo 1). The metal mesh frogs are intact; the frog on the largest bowl shows minor surface oxidation and light wear consistent with use, while the metal collar on the medium bowl shows light surface scratching (photo 1).
