Live auction will start in __ days and __ hours

Start price: £2

Buyer's Premium:

A mid-20th-century watercolour on paper depicting a rural British landscape, potentially representing the Lake District or Yorkshire Dales. The composition features a fast-flowing stream with a stony bed in the foreground, flanked by a rocky path and a traditional dry stone wall. In the mid-ground, a hillside is covered with trees in late autumn or early winter foliage, set against a pale, overcast sky containing several birds in flight. The work is signed in the lower right corner V L N TAYLOR. The painting is presented in a buff-coloured double-ruled mount and a simple gilt wood frame. An orange adhesive sticker on the glass displays the handwritten number 590, and a small white adhesive sticker on the lower right of the frame displays the number 7.

Condition report:

The watercolour appears to be in good condition with no visible foxing or water damage, although there is slight overall toning to the paper (photo 1). The double-ruled mount remains clean. The gilt wood frame exhibits minor surface wear and small nicks to the finish (photo 1).
