Lot 553: A Set of Victorian Rococo Revival Style Carved Wood Dining Chairs
A set of Victorian Rococo Revival style dining chairs, constructed from a dark-toned wood. The frames feature ornately carved cresting rails with foliate and scroll motifs. The collection comprises armchairs with padded armrests and open side chairs, all featuring button-tufted backrests and padded seats upholstered in coral-pink velvet fabric. The upholstery is finished with a border of brass-coloured studs. The chairs are supported by cabriole front legs and slightly splayed rear legs. A small orange circular adhesive inventory label is positioned on the lower left of one chair frame.
Condition report:
The chairs are in good, used condition. Small surface scuffs, scratches, and minor indentations are visible on the wooden frames (photo 1). The velvet upholstery shows light signs of wear, including minor piling and slight colour variations across the set (photo 1). Flattening of the velvet pile is visible on the seat of one armchair (photo 1).
