Lot 483: 'Bird and Floral Branches in the Chinoiserie Style'
A framed decorative work on paper featuring a stylized pale blue bird silhouette perched amongst floral branches. The branches, leaves, and blossoms are composed of patterned elements featuring white polka dots and pink floral motifs on a light blue ground, presented in a collage-like arrangement on a cream-coloured support. The piece is housed in an ornate silver-toned frame decorated with repeating classical leaf and bead mouldings. A white square adhesive label printed with the number 17 and a rectangular orange adhesive label printed with the number 483 are attached to the upper left corner of the glazing. No artist signature, inscription, or maker’s mark is visible on the work or the frame.
Condition report:
The artwork and support appear to be in good condition with no visible fading, foxing, or damage. The frame shows minor surface wear and small areas of rubbing to the silver-toned finish. Two adhesive labels are present on the exterior of the glass (photo 1).
