An assortment of mid-to-late 20th-century costume jewellery presented in a brown faux-leather oval vanity case. The collection comprises various styles of clip-on earrings and a brooch. Items include a large gold-tone openwork butterfly brooch accented with clear rhinestones, a pair of circular clip-on earrings with a leopard-print finish, and multiple pairs of textured gold-tone and silver-tone earrings. Settings include clear rhinestones, green glass cabochons, and simulated pearls. The group contains retro-style red and orange plastic circular earrings and black and white patterned pieces. One large gold-tone earring features a raised central logo consisting of four interlocking geometric shapes arranged in a square. The brown faux-leather case is oval in form with a hinged lid containing a rectangular mirror and a gathered cream fabric pocket. The interior is lined in cream fabric and partitioned into six storage compartments. Marks are present on the clips of several pieces; one gold-tone earring bears a raised geometric logo, and a silver-tone earring clip shows impressed characters that are not legible.
Condition report:
The collection is in good vintage condition. The jewellery pieces show light wear, surface scratches, and minor oxidation to metal surfaces (photo 1). Stones and simulated pearls appear to be present and secure. The case exterior shows minor scuffing. The internal cream fabric lining shows light staining and dust accumulation, particularly in the corners of the compartments (photo 1). The mirror is intact.
