Lot 567: A Victorian Style Pine Chest of Drawers
A pine chest of drawers in the Victorian style. The carcass features a rectangular top with a moulded edge, positioned above a configuration of two short drawers over two long graduated drawers. Each drawer is fitted with turned wooden knobs. The chest is supported by turned bun feet. The timber displays natural grain patterns and various knots throughout. No maker marks, signatures, or labels are visible on the exterior surfaces. Drawer construction and secondary woods are not visible as the drawers are shown closed.
Condition report:
The piece shows significant surface wear consistent with age and domestic use. The top surface has multiple circular ring marks, dark stains, and numerous scratches and indentations (photo 1). There is visible scuffing and finish loss along the edges of the top and the drawer fronts (photo 1). The turned bun feet show wear and minor chipping at the bases (photo 1).
