Lot 490: A rectangular off-white wall mirror with scrolling acanthus leaf corner motifs and an oval central aperture
A rectangular wall mirror featuring a moulded frame finished in an off-white paint. The mirror is designed with a central oval aperture. The frame is decorated in each of the four corners with ornate scrolling acanthus leaf flourishes in a Rococo revival style. The outer perimeter of the frame has a stepped profile. The oval mirror plate is clear and reflects an industrial ceiling in the photograph. A small white rectangular adhesive label is affixed to the left side of the mirror plate, bearing the handwritten number 17. An orange rectangular adhesive label is affixed to the right side of the frame, bearing the handwritten number 4.90. No maker’s marks, stamps, or signatures are visible on the front of the piece.
Condition report:
The oval mirror plate appears to be in good overall condition with no visible foxing, silvering loss, or scratches (photo 1). The frame exhibits some minor surface dirt and dark scuff marks, particularly along the lower horizontal edge (photo 1). There is a light accumulation of dust within the recessed areas of the moulded flourishes. Two adhesive stickers are present on the front surfaces (photo 1).
