Lot 40a: A Set of Four Multi-Coloured Cased and Cut-to-Clear Lead Crystal Hock Wine Glasses
A set of four cased and cut-to-clear lead crystal hock wine glasses, each in a different vibrant colour: emerald green, amethyst, amber, and a dark cobalt blue. The bowls are decorated with a traditional pattern of deep-cut cross-hatching, starburst medallions, and vertical fan-shaped cuts. The clear crystal stems are multi-faceted with notched edges, leading down to circular feet featuring a radiating sunburst design on the underside. One glass in amethyst bears a small white rectangular adhesive label featuring two stylized, mirrored characters resembling the letters L L, which are not legible as a specific maker’s name. A second glass in dark cobalt blue bears an orange adhesive sticker with the handwritten characters 4 0 A.
