Lot 39: A Collection of Decorative Ceramic and Porcelain Figurines and Tableware
A collection of decorative porcelain and ceramic items. The group includes a hexagonal porcelain ginger jar of baluster form with a domed lid and pointed finial, featuring polychrome transfer decoration of floral sprays and butterflies on a cream-coloured ground. Included is a glazed porcelain figurine depicting a leaning youth in a long, pale blue gown, a white-glazed porcelain sculpture of two stylized abstract figures on a scrolled base, and a small white-glazed porcelain figurine of a seated cat with painted green eyes, black whiskers, and a black collar. The lot is completed by a painted ceramic group of three children in winter coats and hats standing on a low rectangular base. No factory marks or maker’s names are visible on the exterior surfaces. An orange adhesive label with handwritten digits 39 is attached to the body of the hexagonal jar, and a matching orange label with digits 39 is affixed to the stylized sculpture. The figurine of a leaning youth bears a white adhesive label on the forehead with the repeated digit 7 7.
Condition report:
Based on visual inspection, all five items appear to be in good condition with no visible chips, cracks, or restorations to the glazed surfaces (photo 1).
