Lot 371: A 1993 Château Gruaud Larose Empty Wooden Twelve Bottle Wine Crate
An empty wooden wine crate originally for twelve bottles of Château Gruaud Larose, a Second Growth estate in the Saint-Julien appellation of Bordeaux. The crate is constructed from light-coloured wood and features heat-branded graphics on one main panel. Centrally positioned is the producer’s name Château Gruaud Larose above a crowned coat of arms crest. The crest is encircled by the motto LE ROI DES VINS LE VIN DES ROIS. A corner of the panel is marked with the number 93, signifying the 1993 vintage. The top right edge is stamped in reverse with 12 Btlles and a circular recycling symbol. One vertical edge is printed with the instruction OPEN THIS SIDE. The crate retains segments of its original branded adhesive tape from the London-based merchant Berry Bros & Rudd Ltd, which includes their address at 3 St. James’s Street, London, SW1A 1EG.
Condition report:
The crate is empty and shows signs of previous use consistent with shipping and storage. There are visible staple holes where the lid was originally secured (photo 1). Minor surface scuffs, light scratches, and remnants of adhesive merchant tape are present across the exterior (photo 1). The wood remains structurally sound with no evidence of splitting.
