Lot 359: A Harris Tweed Tote Bag and a Boxed Paul Costelloe Tweed and Leather Accessory Set
This lot comprises two accessory items featuring traditional tweed fabrics. The first item is a large open-top tote bag constructed from hand-woven Harris Tweed wool in a blue, red, and yellow plaid pattern. The bag is fitted with black pebbled synthetic or leather handles and matching decorative corner patches at the base. Centrally positioned on the exterior is a white woven label with the red Harris Tweed orb logo, reading Harris Tweed in red cursive above THE HARRIS TWEED AUTHORITY and HAND WOVEN IN THE OUTER HEBRIDES in black. An orange adhesive price label is applied directly over the text of this label, and a white rectangular adhesive sticker marked 4 4 is affixed to the blue tweed surface (photo 1).
The second item is a boxed accessory set comprising a matching wallet and gloves. The set is presented in a white cardboard box decorated with black botanical illustrations, with one side printed in black PAUL COSTELLOE above LEATHER. The wallet is a long flap-over style featuring a tan, brown, and light blue check tweed body with dark brown pebbled leather piping and trim. A gold-tone metal plaque is fixed to the front flap, currently obscured by a white rectangular adhesive sticker marked 4 4 (photo 2). The matching gloves feature tweed backs and brown leather palms, with a leather wrist strap secured by a gold-tone snap button.
Condition report:
The tote bag appears in good condition with no visible tears or heavy wear to the fabric. The central Harris Tweed label and the bag exterior carry adhesive residue from applied stickers (photo 1). The Paul Costelloe wallet shows minor scuffing and loss of finish to the brown leather piping at the top left corner edge (photo 2). The gloves appear unused within the presentation box. The box itself shows minor storage wear and scuffing to the edges.
