A collection of three vintage decorative metal items comprising two doorstops and a figurine. The first item is a stylized profile of a ram or sheep in relief-moulded painted cast iron. The figure features a textured brown surface simulating wool, dark green curved horns, and is mounted on an integral black-painted decorative base with scrolled openwork. The second item is a relief-moulded cast iron arrangement of pansies in a pot. The flowers are finished in shades of yellow, red, blue, and white with green foliage, set in a terracotta-coloured pot on a semi-circular green-painted flat base. The third item is a cast metal figurine with a green verdigris patina. The piece depicts a winged fairy or pixie wearing a short skirt reaching toward an inverted bell-shaped flower head. A small rectangular orange adhesive label is affixed to the side of the bell base with the handwritten characters 35- in black ink. No maker marks or signatures are visible on any of the items.
Condition report:
The ram doorstop shows significant paint loss and wear across the textured surface of the wool and on the raised scrollwork of the base, revealing oxidation and underlying metal (photo 1). The pansy basket doorstop finish is heavily distressed with extensive chipping and flaking across the floral components and the pot, showing the dark metal beneath (photo 1). The verdigris patina on the fairy figurine is uneven throughout. A small detached metal component in the shape of a leaf or petal is resting on the surface next to the base (photo 1), indicating a break or missing element from the main assembly.
