This lot consists of a collection of four printed works focusing on the ecclesiastical history and architecture of Cartmel Priory in Cumbria. The first item is a softcover book titled THE PRIORY OF CARTMEL, featuring a blue-bordered cover with two photographic panels depicting stained glass windows. The second is a stapled pamphlet titled The Priory Church of St Mary and St Michael, additionally marked CARTMEL PRIORY Cumbria, which has a pale yellow cover with a monochrome architectural sketch of the building and two circular seal designs. The third is a stapled booklet titled THE MISERICORDS and SCREEN in CARTMEL PRIORY by Eric Rothwell, showing a colour photograph of the carved choir stalls on the front cover. Condition report:
The collection is in mixed vintage condition as shown in the primary photograph. The softcover book THE PRIORY OF CARTMEL shows minor shelf wear and light rubbing to the cover edges. The yellow pamphlet for The Priory Church of St Mary and St Michael is in very good condition with minimal handling wear. The Eric Rothwell booklet on misericords shows light creasing along the spine. The vintage guide Cartmel: A Haunt of Ancient Peace shows visible wear and small tears to the overhanging edges of the outer paper wrap, along with some light surface soiling to the red panel (photo 1).
