Lot 290: The Furness Year Book 1906
An early 20th-century local regional interest publication titled THE Furness Year Book for the year 1906. The volume is constructed with grey-green paper-covered boards and a tan cloth-backed spine. The front cover features a printed ornamental border in a yellow or gilt-coloured ink. Centred within this border is the printed title THE Furness Year Book. with the date 1906. printed below. The lower right section of the front board features a printed publisher mark reading PRINTED AND PUBLISHED BY W. HOLMES, LTD., OTTO PRINTING WORKS, ULVERSTON. The original retail price is also printed on the cover as Price 1s. Post Free 1s. 2d.
Condition report:
The book shows substantial wear consistent with its age. There is heavy fraying and loss of the paper covering along the top, bottom, and side edges of the boards, with the corners heavily bumped and worn (photo 1). The cloth spine is frayed at the head and tail. The front board displays surface soiling, overall toning, and some light staining.
