Lot 270: A British Dulcetto Portable Acoustic Gramophone
A British-made Dulcetto portable acoustic gramophone housed in a black textured carrying case. The interior features a decorative wood-inlaid deck with a central sunburst motif and dark-grained veneers. The turntable is fitted with a blue felt mat. The chrome-plated tonearm and metal speed control lever are present. A lidded needle compartment is located in the corner of the deck. The underside of the lid contains a record storage pocket featuring a multi-coloured transfer-printed logo. The logo depicts a parrot perched atop a gold-bordered rectangular frame containing the printed text DULCETTO in black, with MADE IN ENGLAND printed below in smaller capital letters. An orange adhesive price sticker reading 270 is affixed to the lid of the needle compartment.
Condition report:
The exterior case shows signs of age-related wear, including scuffing and loss to the textured covering at the edges and corners (photo 1). There is oxidation and surface pitting to the metal latches, corner guards, and external hardware (photo 1). The internal wood-inlaid deck appears well-preserved with minor surface scratches (photo 1). The blue felt turntable mat shows some central wear and dust accumulation (photo 1). The transfer-printed logo inside the lid is partially worn with some loss to the parrot\'s coloured detailing (photo 2). The winding handle is absent from the provided images. The internal spring motor and mechanical functions are untested.
