Lot 214: A Collection of Glazed Ceramic Floral and Plain Chamber Pots
A collection of glazed ceramic chamber pots, primarily in white earthenware or ironstone. The assortment includes various designs, such as a pot with a polychrome floral transfer print depicting burgundy, yellow, and pink roses, and another featuring a monochrome blue transfer print of large peonies. A plain white glazed vessel and a pot with a ribbon and floral motif are also present. The vessels exhibit typical domestic forms of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, including squat bulbous shapes and deep forms with single handles. No manufacturer name is legible on the visible surfaces, although several items carry contemporary adhesive labels: white labels printed with the digit 4 and orange labels reading 2.14. Condition report:
The collection appears to be in good vintage condition overall. The polychrome rose pot shows light staining and yellowish discolouration around the interior and exterior rim (photo 1), with minor wear to the glaze on the handle (photo 1). The monochrome blue pot and the plain white pot show minor surface wear but no significant damage (photo 1). The ribbon-patterned pot shows no significant defects in the visible section (photo 1). No major chips, cracks, or repairs are apparent from the photographs.
