Lot 18: A Dragonfly and Floral Stained Glass Banker Style Desk Lamp
A stained glass banker style desk lamp featuring a rectangular arched shade. The shade is constructed using the copper foil technique and is decorated with a dragonfly motif against a background of vertically oriented marbled green and white glass panels. The dragonfly is rendered with a purple body, translucent green wings, and two applied red glass bead eyes, positioned alongside pink and white floral blooms. The shade is supported by a patinated metal base with a figural element depicting a mythical creature, possibly a gargoyle or dragon, set on an oval plinth. The lamp is fitted with a black electrical cord and a British standard three-pin plug. No maker’s marks, signatures, or labels are visible on the shade or the base.
Condition report:
The stained glass shade is in very good condition with no visible cracks, chips, or missing panels (photo 1). The soldered lines appear complete and sound. The patinated metal base shows minor surface wear and light oxidation consistent with age and handling (photo 1). The lamp is fitted with a UK plug; however, as a vintage electrical item, it must be professionally tested before use.
