Lot 147: Large Quilted Chinoiserie Tree of Life Pattern Bedspread
A large-scale quilted bedspread or comforter featuring a Chinoiserie-style Tree of Life print. The cotton or cotton-blend face fabric has a soft sheen and displays a design of a gnarled tree with various types of foliage, flowers, songbirds, and butterflies. The pattern is rendered in shades of slate blue, sage green, and terracotta on a cream base. The piece is finished with a blue-grey corded or piped edge. The reverse is a plain, neutral cream fabric. A rectangular white paper tag is pinned to the top edge, printed with the numbers 1 and 2 on two lines, and marked with a handwritten price of 40 in orange ink preceded by a currency symbol that appears to be for British Pounds Sterling. No other maker’s marks, labels, or stamps are visible.

The textile is in good used condition. The printed pattern remains clear and the fabric shows no immediate signs of significant wear, fraying, or large-scale staining. Light creases consistent with folding are present. No tears or holes are visible in the provided photograph.
