Lot 610: Antique Metal Cabin Trunk
A vintage cabin or steamer trunk, constructed from metal with a dark brown finish. The trunk features a slightly domed lid and is reinforced with multiple metal rivets along the seams and edges. The front is fitted with a central metal lock plate and hasp. The base includes five protective metal studs. This style of trunk was commonly used for travel during the early to mid-20th century. While characters are stamped into the lock plate, they are illegible due to wear and surface oxidation, preventing a specific maker attribution.
Condition report:
The trunk is in fair condition with an aged patina. The exterior surface displays widespread scuffs, scratches, and abrasions consistent with long-term use. There are several small white paint splatters on the lid and front panels. The metal components, including the lock, hasp, and rivets, exhibit heavy oxidation and surface rust. The interior was not inspected, and the key is missing.
