Lot 263: An Assortment of Ceramic Tableware Including Avon Stained Glass Pattern Mugs and Lace Linen
This lot comprises a collection of mixed ceramic tableware and household linens. Included is a lidded vegetable tureen of octagonal form, constructed from white glazed earthenware with embossed scrollwork to the twin handles and a scalloped rim. The lid is finished with a red glaze central panel and a matching red line to the rim. There is a set of porcelain mugs featuring a wrap-around stained-glass window pattern in various colours with gilt rims, marked AVON to the base. The lot also contains a large white ceramic basin with flared, scalloped edges and embossed foliate motifs. Additional items include a yellow ceramic pitcher, a small glass with gilt decoration, a ceramic plate with a brown transferware floral border, and an unopened package of cream lace table linen with a floral and geometric openwork design.
Condition report:
The red glaze on the tureen lid shows visible surface wear and pitting. Minor rubbing is present on the gilt rims of the mugs. The remaining ceramic items exhibit light surface marks and dirt consistent with use. The lace linen is in its original unopened packaging.
