Lot 380: Vulcan Minor Child's Sewing Machine and Original Box
A vintage Vulcan Minor model child’s sewing machine, manufactured in England during the mid-20th century. This hand-operated toy features a die-cast metal frame with a red painted finish. The side of the machine is embossed with the stylized Vulcan logo and MADE IN ENGLAND, while the top bears the model name Minor in yellow cursive script. The technical assembly includes a chrome-finished metal balance wheel, a wooden spool pin, and a metal needle bar assembly. The machine is housed in its original illustrated cardboard box featuring colour graphics of children using the device. The box retains its original internal cardboard support insert. The machine operates via a hand-cranked chain-stitch mechanism.
Condition report:
The sewing machine is in good vintage condition. There are visible areas of minor paint loss to the red finish, particularly at the edges, and light surface oxidation is present on the metal components. The hand-cranked mechanism appears to be in working order and moves freely. The original cardboard box is in fair to good condition, displaying typical signs of shelf wear including scuffing, creases, and small tears to the corner flaps. An orange price sticker and a white label are present on the box lid, and blue ink handwriting is visible on the interior of the box base.
