Lot 370: Two Pairs of Antique and Vintage Children's Footwear
This lot comprises two pairs of traditional children’s footwear. The first pair consists of red leather T-strap clogs featuring scalloped edge details. The uppers are secured to carved wooden soles with decorative brass-tone metal studs and fasten with a single metal button. The soles are fitted with black composition non-slip pads at the heel and forefoot. The second pair consists of pointed-toe traditional folk-style shoes in faded grey leather. These shoes feature a simple leather tie across the bridge and are constructed with heavy leather or wooden soles reinforced with iron perimeter plates and cleats. No maker’s marks or sizes are visible on either pair.
Condition report:
Both pairs exhibit significant age-related wear. The red clogs show heavy scuffing and loss of colour to the leather toes, with dry surfaces and surface cracking. Oxidation is present on the metal studs. The grey leather shoes are in poor condition with stiff, degraded leather, including visible holes and tears at the toes and heels. The iron sole reinforcements are heavily oxidised with thick rust.
