Lot 369: An Assortment of Antique and Vintage Children's Footwear
A collection of early to mid-20th-century footwear in various styles and sizes. The group includes red leather lace-up infant shoes, black and brown leather Mary Jane and T-strap shoes, and several examples of traditional wooden-soled clogs. These clogs are constructed with leather uppers secured to carved wooden bases by metal studs. The lot also features a single black leather high-sided boot with a buckled ankle strap and a sole reinforced with heavy metal hobnails. The materials consist of leather uppers, wooden soles, and metal hardware. The items are presented in a recycled cardboard box which is not original to the footwear.
Condition report:
The collection is in a heavily worn and aged state, sold as found. The leather uppers exhibit significant scuffing, surface cracking, and creasing throughout. Metal components such as buckles, studs, and hobnails show signs of oxidation and surface rust. The soles demonstrate heavy wear and ingrained dirt. One red shoe has a broken lace. These items are intended for display or historical study rather than functional use.
