Start price: £2

Buyer's Premium:

This lot comprises an assortment of vintage books and periodicals, primarily 20th-century British publications. Included is the first issue of War Machine, an encyclopedia of military weapons published by Orbis Publishing, accompanied by Issue 2 and a supplemental World War II volume. The collection features various hardcover titles such as The Morning Will Come by Naomi Jacob, The Girl’s Make-and-Do Book, and the Magpie Annual 1974. Educational and niche titles include The Infant Teacher’s Prayer Book by Blandford Press, Ciphers and Secret Writing, and How Man Became by Morris and Spink. Also present is a selection of paperback novels and television tie-ins, including Star Trek 1 by James Blish, Starsky and Hutch 2 by Max Franklin, and Fred J. Speakman’s Tracks, Trails and Signs. A large, unidentified red cloth-bound volume is located at the base of the group. Visible publishers include Orbis, Blandford, Carousel, and Corgi.

Condition report:

The collection is in varied condition, generally ranging from fair to good. Paperbacks show typical shelf wear, creased spines, and edge tanning. Hardcover volumes exhibit bumped corners, some fading to spines, and light foxing to page edges. The large red volume at the base shows heavy wear and loss to the spine cloth. The War Machine issue shows some surface wear and a paper remnant on the front cover.
