Lot 238a: A Tri-ang Pressed Steel Pedal Tractor
A vintage Tri-ang pedal tractor manufactured by Lines Bros Ltd. The toy features a pressed steel body finished in red paint with embossed engine detailing highlighted in silver. The manufacturer name TRIANG is embossed in capital letters on both sides of the engine hood. It is constructed in a tricycle configuration with a tubular metal frame supporting two smaller front wheels and a single larger rear wheel. The rear wheel is fitted with a yellow-painted mudguard. The tractor is equipped with a central steering column and a cream-coloured plastic steering wheel, positioned in front of a moulded black plastic seat. The pedal-driven mechanism is connected to a central crank. A small yellow adhesive inventory label marked 225A is present on the top of the hood.
Condition report:
The item is in play-worn condition. There is significant paint loss, scuffing, and scratching throughout the red and silver-painted areas of the steel body. Extensive surface oxidation and rust are visible on the tubular metal frame, wheel hubs, and the pedal assembly. The cream plastic steering wheel shows signs of age-related discolouration and surface grime. The rubber tires show wear consistent with use but appear to be intact. The toy appears to be mechanically complete with the seat, steering wheel, and pedals all present.
