Lot 234a: A Regency Style Mahogany Gothic Lancet Mantel Clock
An antique mantel clock in the Gothic Lancet style. The architectural case is finished in mahogany veneer with boxwood stringing and brass foliate scroll inlays to the front panels. It features a pointed arched top and is mounted on a stepped plinth base. The circular dial is finished in an off-white paint with black Roman numerals and black steel spade hands. Two winding apertures are present on the dial, indicating a striking mechanical movement. The dial is enclosed within a hinged circular brass bezel with a glass cover. A detached brass pendulum is included.
Condition report:
The mahogany case shows surface wear consistent with age, including minor scuffs, small scratches, and some dulling to the finish. The brass inlays are tarnished. The painted dial exhibits surface soiling, light staining, and minor paint loss, particularly around the winding apertures. Two modern adhesive labels are currently adhered to the dial surface. The movement has not been tested for working order. The pendulum is detached.
