Lot 193: British School, 20th Century, 'Industrial Street Scene'
A painting in oil or gouache on textured board depicting a busy industrial street scene in the British naive tradition. The composition is populated with numerous stylized figures and dogs amongst Victorian terraced houses, a red-brick public building with a clock, and a prominent church spire under an overcast sky. The work is unsigned and is presented behind glass within a wide burgundy-coloured mount and a moulded gilt-finished wood frame. An orange rectangular lot sticker bearing the number 193 is affixed to the bottom right corner of the frame.
Condition report:
The artwork is in good overall condition. There are no visible signs of flaking, cracking, or loss to the medium. The frame exhibits minor surface wear and small scuffs consistent with age and handling. Reflections are visible on the surface of the glass.
