Lot 167: A Collection of Blue Willow Pattern Transfer-Printed Tableware
An assortment of Blue Willow pattern earthenware and ironstone tableware decorated with traditional chinoiserie motifs including pagodas, willow trees, and bridges. The pieces feature underglaze blue transfer-printing, with several items including the teapots and plates finished with thin gilt line borders to the rims. The collection comprises two teapots of differing shapes, one featuring a sailing vessel motif; a pair of cow-form creamers with covers; a five-section toast rack; a rectangular covered butter dish; a gravy boat with a matching underplate; and a graduated stack of plates and saucers topped with a circular footed bowl. Also present is a large rectangular planter or tureen base with a flared, lobed rim. No manufacturer marks are visible; the items bear temporary white and orange paper labels.
Condition report:
The large rectangular planter base displays significant brown staining and prominent crazing to the interior bottom. General light surface wear and minor crazing consistent with age and domestic use are present across the group. There is some rubbing to the gilt highlights. No major chips or professional repairs are apparent from a visual inspection.
