Lot 151: An Assortment of Cut Lead Crystal Glassware in a Traditional Star and Diamond Pattern
A collection of high-quality 24 per cent lead crystal glassware featuring a hand-cut Star and Diamond motif. The pattern consists of a lower band of deep diamond-point cross-hatching beneath elongated vertical fan or starburst cuts. The suite comprises multiple forms including champagne flutes with facet-cut stems, wine and water goblets, cylindrical tumblers, and smaller sherry glasses. Many pieces feature multi-faceted button or hexagonal stems and are finished with star-cut bases. The lot also includes a small cream jug with a matching cut pattern and an applied clear handle. Additionally, there is a selection of coloured wine glasses in shades of ruby red, amber, cobalt blue, and emerald green, each set on a clear facet-cut stem. Several pieces retain small white labels marked with the number 2 and orange auction labels marked 151. No acid-etched maker’s marks are visible.
Condition report:
The collection is in very good overall condition. The crystal remains bright and clear with no visible clouding or glass sickness. No significant chips, cracks, or large bruises are apparent. Minor shelf-wear and light surface scratches are present on the undersides of the bases, consistent with domestic use. Some extremely fine flea-bite nicks may be present on the sharpest edges of the cut patterns.
