Lot 477: A Regency Style Mahogany Tilt-Top Pedestal Breakfast Table
A mahogany tilt-top breakfast table in the Regency style. The rectangular top is constructed with mahogany veneers and features rounded corners, a wide crossbanded border, and fine stringing decoration. The top is fitted with a tilt mechanism allowing it to be flipped vertically for storage. It is supported by a substantial, turned central pedestal column resting on a platform base. Four out-swept, splayed legs emerge from the platform, each terminating in a brass-capped lion’s paw foot set on castors. A modern inventory sticker is present on the side edge of the table top, containing the printed characters LLH and the handwritten number 477. No maker’s marks or stamps are visible.
Condition report:
The table shows signs of age and significant surface wear. The top has numerous visible scratches, scuffs, and areas of finish loss, including a prominent white scuff mark on one side. There is minor wear and chipping to the veneered edges. The brass feet and castors show typical patination consistent with age.
