Lot 254: Various Authors. A Collection of Vintage Children's Classics and Adventure Novels.
A collection of vintage hardbound books, primarily comprising children’s classics and adventure stories. The lot features a uniform series of volumes bound in blue and green cloth with gilt-lettered spines, including titles such as Lassie Come-Home by Eric Knight, Pinocchio by Carlo Collodi, Heidi by Johanna Spyri, The Call of the Wild by Jack London, Alice in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll, The Wizard of Oz by L. Frank Baum, and The Water Babies by Charles Kingsley. Also included is a large-format green cloth-bound volume titled Animal Life of the World with gilt cover lettering. Other notable titles in the collection include The Adventures of Tom Sawyer by Mark Twain (The Children’s Press), Kidnapped by R.L. Condition report:
The collection is in varied condition, reflecting age and frequent handling. Several volumes exhibit significant shelf wear, including bumped corners, rubbed boards, and frayed or chipped spine ends, particularly visible on the earlier adventure titles. The uniform series of classics remains in relatively better condition with bright gilt-work on the spines. Internal pages show varying degrees of tanning and occasional foxing. No dust jackets are present for any of the volumes. The wicker hamper is structurally sound but shows minor fraying to the weave and typical wear to the leather straps and metal components.
