This lot consists of a three-piece ceramic garniture set, crafted from tin-glazed earthenware in the Italian faience style. The set includes a central twin-handled urn-shaped vase, a tapering vase, and a matching tapering vase with a domed lid featuring a pointed finial. Each piece is decorated with hand-painted polychrome floral and foliate motifs in a palette of green, yellow, ochre, and burgundy over a cream ground. The central vase is characterised by a wide flared rim and scrolled handles finished in a green glaze. The smaller vases feature similar banding and floral sprays. While the style is indicative of 20th-century Italian workshops, no definitive maker’s marks are visible to confirm a specific factory. There is some indistinct blue script to the interior rim of the large vase and several inventory labels including orange tags marked 119 and a white tag marked 20.
Condition report:
All three pieces exhibit widespread crazing to the glaze, which is typical for this type of earthenware. There is visible surface wear and minor glaze loss along the rims. No major chips, cracks, or professional restorations are immediately apparent from visual inspection.
