Lot 528: UK 1999 Diana Princess of Wales Memorial Five-Pound Coin in Original Royal Mint Presentation Pack
A United Kingdom five-pound commemorative coin issued by the Royal Mint in 1999 to memorialise Diana, Princess of Wales. The cupro-nickel coin is presented in its original commemorative purple gatefold folder and white card outer sleeve. The reverse design by David Cornell features a portrait of the Princess, inscribed IN MEMORY OF DIANA PRINCESS OF WALES with the dates 1961 and 1997, the year 1999, and the denomination FIVE POUNDS. The obverse features the Ian Rank-Broadley portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. The interior of the presentation folder contains a biographical tribute from the 9th Earl Spencer and a photographic portrait of the Princess.
Condition report:
The coin appears in brilliant uncirculated condition as issued. The original card folder and outer sleeve exhibit minor handling wear and light edge scuffing consistent with age. Two inventory stickers with the numbers 24 and 528 are affixed to the front of the outer sleeve.
