A vintage Indian carving set consisting of a steel knife, a matching two-pronged fork, and a decorative wooden scabbard. Both the knife and fork are fitted with handles crafted from hand-carved wood, displaying floral and foliate motifs, and finished with brass guards and pommel caps. The steel blade of the knife features the stamped mark INDIA near the guard. The fork includes a matching carved handle and a fold-out brass rest. All three components are designed to be housed within the single, dual-entry wooden scabbard, which is intricately carved to match the handles and fitted with brass mounts, integrated feet for tabletop display, and two brass locking clips.
Blade length: approximately 205 millimetres.
Condition report:
The collection shows evidence of significant age and use. The steel blade of the knife and the prongs of the fork exhibit widespread surface oxidation, rust, and pitting. The wooden handles and scabbard show surface wear, minor scratches, and accumulated dust. A small white adhesive label marked with the number 5 is affixed to the scabbard. The brass mounts and clips have developed a dark, aged patina.
