A mid-20th-century upholstered rocking armchair, designed in the manner of British manufacturers such as Cintique. The chair features a stained hardwood frame with a dark mahogany-coloured finish and steam-bent, sweeping curved armrests that join the backrest and the rocker base. The seat and backrest are upholstered in a traditional floral-patterned tapestry fabric, with large-scale botanical motifs of flowers and leaves in rose pink, ochre, and burgundy on a neutral beige ground. The backrest is designed with two buttoned indentations for a tufted appearance. Two small temporary adhesive inventory labels are present on the lower right armrest, one white with the number 13 and one plain yellow square.
Condition report:
The chair is in used, saleable condition. The timber finish shows minor surface wear and small marks consistent with age. The upholstery exhibits signs of wear and age-related fading; the left-side button on the backrest is missing, leaving a visible indentation. The rocker rails and joints appear to be sound from visual inspection.
