Lot 446: Victorian Mahogany Two-Short Over Three-Long Chest of Drawers
A Victorian mahogany chest of drawers, featuring a traditional arrangement of two short drawers over three long graduated drawers. The chest is constructed with mahogany and mahogany veneers, characterised by rounded front corners and a plinth base. Each drawer is fitted with a pair of turned mahogany knobs and a central inset keyhole. No maker’s marks, labels, or stamps are visible. Condition report:
The chest is in fair condition with visible signs of age and use. There is a significant vertical split to the mahogany veneer on the front of the second-to-bottom long drawer. General surface wear includes scuffs, scratches, and minor losses to the veneer, particularly around the edges and the base. The finish appears dry and would benefit from sympathetic restoration.
