Lot 35: A Collection of Blue and White Transferware in the Asiatic Pheasant Pattern
A collection of blue and white transfer-printed earthenware tablewares in the Asiatic Pheasant pattern, likely of late nineteenth or early twentieth-century British manufacture. The group comprises three graduated oval platters with scalloped and moulded rims, a small twin-handled oval dish, and a cream jug or sauce boat featuring a scrolled handle. Each piece is decorated with the characteristic transfer-printed scene of birds amongst dense floral and foliate sprays in cobalt blue on a white ground. No factory marks or backstamps are visible on the pieces. The items currently bear orange price stickers and a white lot sticker.
Condition report:
The small jug displays visible brownish staining and discolouration, particularly concentrated around the spout and handle. The platters and handled dish appear in generally good condition with surface wear and fine crazing throughout the glaze, consistent with age and use. No significant chips or cracks are immediately apparent.
