Lot 199: A Pair of British Military Issue Barr & Stroud 7x50 C.F. 24 Prism Binoculars
A pair of vintage Barr & Stroud 7×50 prism binoculars, model C.F. 24. The instrument is constructed with a black textured body and metal housing. The left eyepiece plate is inscribed with 7 x 50, BARR & STROUD, and GLASGOW & LONDON. The right eyepiece plate features the markings N° 3474 and C.F. 24, along with a British military broad arrow (pheon) mark. The binoculars are equipped with a leather neck strap and are presented in an original fitted brown leather carrying case featuring a red velvet-type interior lining. The case displays an orange lot sticker marked 199 L and a white tag marked L 7.
Condition report:
The binoculars show visible wear and paint loss to the edges of the metal components, consistent with age and service use. The leather neck strap is worn. The leather case exhibits significant external scuffing, surface abrasions, and wear to the edges. The interior lining is present but shows signs of use. Optics have not been tested for alignment or internal clarity.
