A watercolour and bodycolour painting on paper depicting Ulverston and Hoad Monument. The composition features a row of terraced houses with varied rooflines and chimney pots, positioned beneath a green hill. A tall, slender stone monument or column is situated on the crest of the hill in the distance. The foreground is defined by a stone wall with small floral accents in the lower right. The work is rendered in a bright, illustrative style with visible pen or fine brush outlines. No signature or date is visible on the front of the artwork. The piece is housed in a cream-coloured mat and a dark wood-effect frame with a gilt inner bead. An auction tag numbered 152 and a small sticker marked 11 11 are attached to the frame.
Condition report:
The paper shows light toning and a few minor surface marks. The frame exhibits minor surface scuffs and small losses to the wood-effect finish, particularly at the corners and edges. The mount appears to be in good condition. The work has not been examined outside of the frame.
