Lot 140: A Collection of Vintage Meccano Construction Toy Parts in a Wooden Box
An assortment of vintage Meccano construction toy components housed in a vintage wooden storage box. The collection includes a variety of mechanical parts such as brass gears, pulleys, sprockets, and perforated strips and plates in red and green enamelled tinplate. Also present are numerous steel rods, nuts, bolts, wooden reels with green cord, and white cotton string. One component in the top-left compartment features a white circular mark inscribed MECCANO and FABRIQUÉ EN ANGLETERRE, identifying the parts as manufactured in England for the French-speaking market. The items are contained within a non-original four-compartment wooden box with a blue painted exterior, a hinged lid, and a metal clasp. The lot includes two paper auction labels: a white label marked 5 on the interior lid and an orange label marked 140 on the side of the box.
Condition report:
The collection is in used vintage condition. The metal components show varying degrees of surface wear, paint loss, and scratches consistent with age and play. Oxidation and surface rust are visible on several of the unpainted steel rods and fasteners. The wooden box exhibits scuffing and wear to the blue exterior finish. This lot consists of mixed components and is not presented as a complete or specific set.
