An antique German hunting pipe in the Tyrolean style, featuring a hand-carved meerschaum bowl depicting a landscape scene with a rural building and foliage. The bowl is fitted with a hinged and ventilated metal lid. The multi-section stem is composed of turned dark wood, a decorative central section inlaid with panels of mother-of-pearl, and a curved black mouthpiece. This design corresponds with the 19th-century Ulmer pipe tradition.
Condition report:
The item displays surface wear and darkening consistent with age and use. The meerschaum bowl has a developed patina. There is minor oxidation and tarnish to the metal lid. Two modern paper inventory stickers are adhered to the surface.
