A lot comprising two meerschaum smoking pipes. The first is a plain, straight-stemmed example with a cream-coloured bowl and a yellow-toned stem. It is presented in its original fitted, fabric-lined hinged case, the interior edge of which is stamped AUSTRIA. The second pipe features a bowl carved in the form of a male character’s head wearing a hat, possibly representing a historical figure. This pipe is fitted with a metal ferrule and a dark, curved stem. Both items bear auction identification labels.
Condition report:
Both pipes show clear signs of previous use, with visible charring and carbon deposit within the bowls. There is surface wear, minor scratching, and general discolouration consistent with age and handling. The fitted case for the plain pipe exhibits external scuffing and significant staining to the interior fabric lining.
