Lot 763: A Weathered Reconstituted Stone Lion Mask Wall Fountain in the Classical Style
A wall-mounted garden fountain or planter of classical design, manufactured from cast reconstituted stone. The backplate features an arched top flanked by scrolled volutes, set within a border of raised rectangular mouldings and stylized cross motifs. Centrally positioned is a prominent relief-moulded lion mask, which is pierced through the mouth to function as a water spout. Below the mask is a deep, semi-circular basin featuring vertical fluted decoration to the exterior. The piece is designed for architectural outdoor use and shows characteristic surface patination.
Dimensions: Approximately 60cm height x 45cm width x 30cm depth (resting on a slatted wooden bench for scale).
Condition report:
The item is in good architectural condition, showing significant weathering consistent with long-term outdoor exposure. There is established moss and lichen growth across the surface and within the interior of the basin. No major structural damage, cracks, or significant losses were observed. An adhesive auction lot sticker is present on the side.
