Lot 764: A weathered teak garden bench
A weathered teak garden bench of traditional slatted construction. The design features a backrest with vertical slats set between a straight top rail and the seat frame. The seat is similarly slatted for drainage. It is constructed with broad, flat armrests and stands on four square-section legs joined by H-pattern stretchers for stability. The bench is characteristic of mid-to-late 20th-century British outdoor furniture design. The timber has aged naturally to a characteristic silvery-grey patina. No maker’s marks or stamps are visible on the exterior surfaces.

Condition report:
The bench is in a heavily weathered condition consistent with prolonged outdoor exposure. There is a well-developed silvery-grey patina throughout the timber. Visible moss and lichen growth are present, particularly on the lower legs and stretchers. The wood shows some surface checking and minor staining, and the slats exhibit slight unevenness, but the piece remains structurally sound.
