Live auction will start in __ days and __ hours

Start price: £2

Buyer's Premium:

A late Victorian occasional armchair constructed from dark-stained hardwood, likely mahogany, with a polished finish. The design incorporates elements of the Aesthetic Movement, featuring a backrest with a central rectangular upholstered panel flanked by two vertical rows of decorative turned spindles. The shaped top rail is surmounted by small turned finials. The chair has open, scrolling arms supported by turned spindles and is raised on turned front legs and out-swept rear legs, all connected by turned H-frame stretchers. The seat and back panel are upholstered in a cream-coloured fabric decorated with a small, repeating red and green floral sprig pattern, finished with green decorative gimp braiding. The upholstery appears to be a later replacement. A small yellow rectangular sticker is present on the inner curve of the left armrest with illegible markings. No maker’s marks or stamps are visible on the frame.

Condition report:

The chair is in good structural condition. The wood finish exhibits minor surface scuffs and light wear commensurate with age and regular use. The upholstery is in very good, clean condition.
