Lot 73: A collection of porcelain tableware in the traditional Imari style

Live auction will start in __ days and __ hours

Start price: £2

Buyer's Premium:

This collection of fine porcelain tableware is decorated in the traditional Imari palette of underglaze cobalt blue, overglaze iron-red, and hand-applied gilding. The group comprises a lidded sugar bowl with a central gold-tone finial and a set of matching saucers or small side plates featuring scalloped edges. The pattern consists of alternating panels containing geometric motifs and stylised floral designs, including chrysanthemums and scrolling foliage. The decoration is achieved through a combination of transfer-printed outlines with hand-painted coloured infills and gilt accents. The design is highly characteristic of English porcelain from the late 19th or early 20th century, closely resembling the 2451 Traditional Imari pattern by Royal Crown Derby, although no maker’s marks are visible in the provided images to confirm attribution.

Condition report:

The set appears to be in good overall condition. There is minor surface wear and light rubbing to the gilding on the rims and the finial, consistent with age and use. No chips, cracks, or visible repairs are apparent from the overhead perspective.
