A Japanese ceramic biscuit jar of cylindrical form, dating from the late Meiji to early Taisho period. The vessel is decorated in the moriage technique, featuring a central three-dimensional dragon in raised orange, white, and gold enamels against a background of blue and white stylised clouds. The body is framed by dark chocolate-brown borders at the rim and base, which are embellished with gilded karakusa scrolls and polychrome floral medallions in raised enamel. The matching domed lid is similarly decorated and surmounted by a dark-toned circular finial. The jar is fitted with a traditional swing handle wrapped in woven rattan. No maker’s marks or backstamps are visible in the provided image.
